Why can't I use 划词翻译 in html or txt files opened locally (i.e. URLs starting with file://)?

If you are using Chrome or Edge browser, you need to check "Allow access to file URLs" in the extension page. Steps:

  1. Right-click on the 划词翻译 icon on the right side of the browser address bar and select "Manage Extensions"
  2. Check "Allow access to file URLs" on the opened page

If you are using Firefox browser, since Firefox does not provide permission for local files, you cannot use it in local files, but you can copy the text and click the 划词翻译 icon on the right side of the address bar (or use the shortcut key to open it). You can also use the standalone translation window.
