Translation Panel

The translation panel is a panel that displays the translation results of 划词翻译. 划词翻译 has a translation panel in the following three places:

Components of the Translation Panel​

The translation panel consists of several parts.

Functional Buttons​

The first row of the translation panel is a row of functional buttons, divided into left and right parts.

The functional buttons on the left side from left to right are:

  • Pin icon: Only exists in the web page selection panel, used to switch between the popup / fixed mode of the translation panel. In popup mode, the translation panel will appear near the selected text, and will automatically close after clicking elsewhere on the page; in fixed mode, the translation panel will be fixed in one place, and moving the mouse to the blank space between the left and right functional buttons can drag the translation panel. In fixed mode, clicking on other parts of the page will not automatically close the translation panel.
  • Scissors icon: Only exists in the web page selection panel, used to open screenshot translation.
  • "文 A" icon: Only exists in the web page selection panel, used to open webpage full translation.
  • Play button icon: Only exists in the web page selection panel, used to open video translation.
  • Landscape icon: Exists in all translation panels, used to open image translation.
  • Microphone icon: Exists in all translation panels, used to open voice translation.

The functional buttons on the right side from left to right are:

  • Back arrow icon: This icon is hidden by default. After you click on a word in the translation result, the translation panel will display the translation result of this word and show this icon. Clicking this icon will return to the last translation result.
  • Star icon: Clicking it will save the current translation text and result to favorites.
  • Gear icon: Clicking it will expand the quick options panel, which is some settings that will be changed frequently.
  • Close button: Only exists in the web page selection panel, clicking it will close the translation panel.

Text Input Box​

The text input box is hidden by default in the web page selection panel, and can be displayed in the quick options panel. The translation panel in the extension popup page and the standalone translation window is always displayed and cannot be hidden.

After entering text in the text input box, a magnifying glass icon will appear. Clicking this icon or pressing Ctrl + Enter will translate the text you entered. You can also change the setting to automatically translate after entering text in Settings Page >【Translation Panel】>【Web Page Selection Panel】.

When you move the mouse to the lower right corner of the text box, the mouse pointer will become a double arrow, and you can drag to change the height of the text box. The width can be changed by dragging the left and right edges of the web page selection panel / standalone translation window, and the width of the text box will automatically fill the width of the entire translation panel.

Translation Result Area​

Below the text input box is the area for displaying the translation results. The translation results of each translation service will be displayed here in order from top to bottom. There are some functional buttons on the right side of each translation service name, which are hidden by default and will only be displayed when the mouse is moved over the translation result.

There is a dropdown box on the right side of the translation service name, which will display the source language automatically detected by the current text, and can be used to temporarily modify the source language. 划词翻译 will automatically determine the language of the text by default, but occasionally it is not accurate, such as recognizing traditional Chinese as simplified Chinese. In this case, you can temporarily modify the source language to get the correct translation result. If you want to fix the source language to one, you can open the quick options panel to modify the source language.

There is a play button on the right side of the temporary source language modification, which is used to play the text you translated.

There is an arrow icon on the right side of the play button, which is used to collapse / expand the translation service. The collapsed translation service will not trigger translation, only when it is expanded will it trigger.

There is a copy button on the right side of the arrow icon, which is used to copy the translation result to the clipboard.

There is an open button on the right side of the copy button, which will open the online translation result address of this translation service when clicked.

The last part of the translation panel is the quick links. Here, three quick links are listed by default: Google Translate, Wikipedia, and Cambridge Dictionary. They are links generated from the text you translated, such as clicking on [Google Translate] will use Google Translate to search for the text you translated. You can add / modify / delete quick links in Settings Page >【Translation Source】>【Quick Links】.

Quick links can also be displayed in the right-click menu, so you can open quick links by selecting text and right-clicking on it.
